Band Discovery: The Staves

The past few years have seen the rise of a number of promising and prominent Americana bands…who are not exactly from America. The Staves are one such band.

Derived from their surname (Stavely-Taylor), The Staves are three sisters – Jessica, Emily, and Camilla – from Wartham, England. The sisters blend ethereal harmonies with the simple plucks and twangs from Jessica’s acoustic guitar to create one of the prettiest folk melodies you’ll hear from the other side of the Atlantic. With currently only a couple of EP’s to their name, The Staves are planning to release their debut full-length in early 2012.

The Staves recently stopped by St Louis last January to open for The Civil Wars. For those unlucky enough to miss them, The Staves are coming back on Mar 24 to The Old Rockhouse as part of their Communion Tour with Ben Howard, Nathaniel Rateliff, and Bears Den. Don’t miss them this second time around!

Check out the intimate and hauntingly beautiful videos for Mexico and Winter Trees below, as well as the Live at Cecil Sharp House EP, which they are giving away for free from their website.
