Album To Check Out: Kishi Bashi – 151a

I have talked at length before about my positive impression of the music of Kishi Bashi, so I don’t need to mention a whole lot more. Kaoru Ishibashi makes wonderfully bright and dreamily whimsical music using only the loops and reverbs of his violin.

His debut album 151a, which was funded through Kickstarter, has finally arrived and the result is what you would expect if you listened to his impressive EP. The two best songs of the EP, Manchester and Bright Whites are happily included in the record, forming the base of the orchestral sounds of the album.

Check out a live version of Manchester embedded below.

Kishi Bashi – 151a comes out 4/10 via Joyful Noise (order here)
