Album To Check Out: Of Monsters and Men – My Head Is An Animal

As mentioned in my Band Discovery post, Of Monsters and Men are the Icelandic amalgamation of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes, Mumford & Sons, and Arcade Fire. If you love these bands (and who doesn’t), it will be easy to love Of Monsters and Men.

Here’s how I described them in my earlier post:

While a little bit derivative of the mentioned bands, Of Monsters and Men definitely bring joyous, communal, hand-clapping folk music with boy-girl harmonies – one that’s easy to listen to and guaranteed to make you smile and sing along.

Their debut album My Head Is An Animal, which was released in their native Iceland last year, is finally getting a re-release here in these United States. The tum-thumping beats of the record paired with the brass horns and the melodious vocals will definitely keep your heart energized and your fists pumping.

As evidence of the band’s burgeoning popularity, the band’s sold-out concert in Brooklyn tonight (4/5) is being broadcast live. Check out the Bowery Presents YouTube channel for the live video feed at 9PM CT.

Check out breakout single Little Talks below.

Of Monsters and Men – My Head is an Animal comes out 4/3 via Universal (order here)
