Album To Check Out: Chromatics – Kill For Love

If you have seen the excellent Ryan Gosling star-vehicle movie Drive (pun fully intended), you might have been aware of the following sequence of music:

The music is by Oregon synth-pop band Chromatics. They were also supposed to soundtrack the score of the movie but were dropped at the last minute.

If you were as disappointed about this as I am, you will be glad to know that the band’s newest record Kill For Love sounds exactly like the lost soundtrack for Drive. The music is cinematic and majestic and well, driven – as sleek and smooth as the rides from the movie. At over 90 minutes of music, this is one record where you would want to sit down and enjoy the ride.

Check out the nostalgic videos for the fantastic title track and the Neil Young cover of Into The Black. The whole stream of the album is also embedded below via SoundCloud.

Chromatics – Kill For Love comes out 3/27 via Italians Do It Better (order here)
