Admittedly, I was kinda late on The Lumineers bandwagon. A number of my friends, as well as local music blogs, have been raving about their forthcoming show last month at the intimate Blueberry Hill venue here in St Louis.
Like the idiot that I was, I kept putting off on listening to them. A day before the event, I finally relented and started viewing live clips of the band on YouTube and discovered that I like the band – a lot. However, just when I was getting ready to buy tickets, it sold out. Hopefully, you were able to catch them before they inevitably start playing bigger venues.
The Lumineers are the Denver trio of Wesley Shultz, Jeremiah Fraites, and Neyla Pekarek. Together, they make the sort of heart-warming folky sing-alongs that Mumford & Sons and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros have perfected.
Their self-titled debut album is just that. The songs in them will have you clapping and stomping along to the ridiculously infectious beats and chugging charming harmonies.
Check out the sing-out-loud-worthy lead single Ho Hey and the live track of Stubborn Love that convinced me that I should be seeing them live.
