The ten man strong members of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes form a communual relationship. Hearing the music from the breakout debut Up From Below makes you feel like in you are in one big camp fire singing along with the members of the band – clapping along to these joyful, folk songs.
The band’s sophomore full length Here, while following many of the same tropes, offers a few little tweaks. It is a bit more subdued – more wistful than shout-out loud giddy, the production is even more lo-fi, and the songs feature more Jade Castrinos instead of just Alex Ebert. All said, this is a pretty solid follow-up to a very fun debut album. Time to gather around the campfire again.
