Album To Check Out: Japandroids – Celebration Rock

Celebration Rock, the proper sophomore full length of Vancouver noise rock garage duo Japandroids has a very appropriate album title. Brian King and David Prowse have basically created a record that is the very definition of a rocking exercise in celebration.

It is only appropriate that the album is coming out as the summer season is just starting, as all the songs in the record provide the perfect soundtrack to a very cool summer jam.  None of these is epitomized more than the first single, The House That Heaven Built. It is an ear-worm worthy sing-along that will have you jumping on your feet, pumping your fists and shouting “Oh oh oh oh oh!”

Obviously then, fireworks bookend the album. The opening track The Nights of Wine and Roses starts with the sound of fireworks crackling and the closing track Continuous Thunder ends with the same fireworks exploding in the sky. Go listen to this album – the summer season has begun and it’s time to celebrate rock!
