Last night bought Lower Dens‘ second trip to St Louis. The first time they were here – more than two years ago- me and my friend, along with an audience of three other people saw them at the eccentric 2720 Cherokee venue. “That place was just weird”, Lower Dens mused. With their blend of fuzz rock and psychedelic krautrock, the band orchestrated a sense of shoe-gaze bliss to the Luminary. Heightening the mood also are some hypnotic visuals that were projected on the screen behind them.
Opener No Joy bought their own brand of noise rock to the venue. Even as my eardrums are getting gently shattered, I can’t help but admire the three ladies shredding their guitars. I kinda want to give them high-fives for being so cool.
Check out photos from the show embedded below. Attached also is the live recorded video of my favorite song of the band – I Get Nervous, from their underrated debut record Twin-Hand Movement.
