Album To Check Out: Micachu and the Shapes – Never

Micachu and the Shapes are a three piece London-based band led by the after-mentioned Micachu (real name Mica Levi). Although Micachu herself would describe the sound of her band as pop – it is not really.  In fact, not at all.

The music the band creates doesn’t rely on any standard pop characteristics. The lyrics are usually incomprehensible and there are no obvious choruses. Many of the instruments used are unorthodox and home-made, and are tuned non-standardly. I would describe it more as avant-garde experimental noise. Never, their sophomore album, is full of this weird wonderful music.
