Album To Check Out: Dan Deacon – America

Dan Deacon is a fun-loving dude. Known prominently for his exciting live shows where Deacon performs at floor level and his audience form community circles while he sings, Dan Deacon brings out the party in dance parties.

But Dan Deacon is also a brainy fellow. While album titles such as Spiderman of the Rings, Porky Pig, and Twacky Cats might make you think that Deacon is just a pop-savvy producer that creates jam-worthy hits, listening to his actual songs belies a sense of compositional strengths to his electronic songs.

His newest release, America, showcases the two sides of Dan Deacon. Side A is the fun poppy side of Deacon where songs like True Thrush fit perfectly on the dance floor. Side B is the compositional side of Deacon, where he composes four-song suite dedicated to celebrate the land of his birth. I thoroughly enjoyed this album.

Check out two songs from the pop side of the album True Thrush and Lots embedded below.
