Seapony, the Seattle-based three piece band composed of primary songwriters and real-life couple Jen Weidl and Danny Rowland and bassist Ian Brewer, first burst onto the scene last summer with a four-track demo on bandcamp. They quickly gained a following due to their easy-to-listen twee sensibilities and jangly surf-pop songs. The music was a light, breezy affair, almost like cotton candy to a fault in its easiness to digest. The songs formed the backbone of their debut record, Go With Me.
After a quick one-year turnaround, the band is now ready to present their sophomore record Falling. While Go With Me was the band’s soundtrack to the sun-drenched summer, Falling, appropriately is their disarming fall album. Bearing similarities to Go With Me, the songs in Falling maintain the DIY twee characteristics while infusing the songs with the placid twilight of the Pacific Northwest from where the band is from.
