Band Discovery: Hundred Waters

The most surprising trivia that you have probably heard about Hundred Waters, the five-piece quintet from Gainsville, Florida, is that they are signed to Skrillex‘s OWSLA label. It’s surprising because the music that the band make sounds nothing like the bass-dropping, rave-starting dubstep-booming music that Skrillex and his ilk makes. Instead, Hundred Waters make eerie, haunting, beautiful music that is more of a merge between psychedelic freak-folk and percussion-heavy, droning, looping electronica. It’s the kind of music that’s hard to define and one that must be listened to be appreciated.

Hundred Waters have released their self-titled debut back in March of this year, but have gotten a lot more exposure after signing with OWSLA and touring with Skrillex, Diplo, and others in their Full Flex Express Tour. It is definitely weird to see a band such as Hundred Waters touring with the dubstep kings. But hey, if it gets exposure to a band of this much talent, I’m not complaining.
