Album To Check Out: TEEN – Carolina EP

TEEN-bandI mentioned at length twice about TEEN, the Brooklyn all-girl four piece led by former Here We Go Magic member Kristina “Teeny” Lieberson and her sisters (plus a friend). Their debut record In Limbo, which came out almost a year ago, was an enjoyable piece of psych pop craft tinged with 60s based lo-fi stylings.

TEEN are back with an intermediary EP, Carolina which they successfully crowd-sourced through Kickstarter. A good thing it succeeded too, cause the new EP is a marked improved over their already good debut. Carolina sees the band leaning more and more towards the psych side of the psych-pop equation. Over the krautrock drums, you can sense TEEN becoming more experimental and more baroque. This reminds me in a good way of some of St Vincent‘s songs.
