One of the more promising rookie bands coming out from last year is the Boston four-piece garage rock band Speedy Ortiz. Led by their charismatic front-woman, Sadie Dupuis, Speedy Ortiz‘s debut album Major Arcana was a very, very good, very, very fun 90s throwback garage record. It recalls all your favorite 90s indie rock heroes like Pavement and Dinosaur Jr. Fans and critics immediately deemed the quartet a band to watch.
Coming off their freshman success, Speedy Ortiz weren’t ones to rest on their laurels as they are releasing a follow-up EP Real Hair. Real Hair is an extension and a growth of the sounds that made Major Arcana such a success. It is nosier than its predecessor, but in a lot of ways, more melodic. The poppiness and catchiness combine to make this short four song a quick yet fun listen.
