Album To Check Out: Fear of Men – Loom

fear-of-menFear of Men are a trio of young musicians from Brighton UK . Led by singer Jessica Weiss, the band make dream pop music that harken back to the 90s. The style and structure of the songs that the band create are nothing new nor are they really particularly adventuresome. What the songs are however, are consistent and consistently great.

With their debut record Loom, Fear of Men have released one of my favorite records so far this year. Certainly, it is one of my favorite records from a new artist so far. The muscle-ly, sinewly guitar riffs contrasts beautifully with the soft whispers from Weiss to create an aura that is melancholy and foreboding.  There is a fragile ghostliness to the whole record that accentuates its emotionality. Loom is a wonderful debut of a record that you need to check out.
