Baths is the project name of the LA-based electronics muscian Will Wiesenfeld. Starting with his bedroom recordings, the classically-trained Wisenfeld makes music as Baths using hardened drumbeats to create a maximalized space from which he can sing about love, longing, and loss. It allows a pretty affecting head space and his 2011 sophomore album Obsidian has garnered great critical acclaim.
It is one the basis of Obsidian that Baths is releasing his new EP. Ocean Death was created as a companion piece for Obsidian and the focus is entirely on the titular track. And though Ocean Death the track was written well before even Bath’s first record Cerulean, its propulsive flow and focus on death serves as the perfect, albeit gentler companion for Obsidian.
