Concert Gallery Ray LaMontagne w/ Hamilton Leithauser @ The Fabulous Fox

RayLaMontagne06Last night brought the incomparable Ray LaMontagne here to St Louis to perform at The Fabulous Fox. It was a special night not only because it has been almost eight years since the celebrated songwriter performed in town, but also because last night was also Ray’s 41st birthday. And St Louis definitely came out in force to support Ray. The crowd was in wild adoration, cheering and hollering between every break, even singing out Happy Birthday to Ray twice throughout the whole night.

And Ray is Ray. His voice and its rasp, as beautiful as always, as he mixes in old favorites alongside his newer songs from his recently released record Supernova. That voice cuts through perfectly as his airtight band accompanies him. My favorite part of the evening is when it was just Ray and his bassist singing acoustically. But as a whole, hearing Ray sing live is always a treat.

Hamilton Leithauser, leadman of the beloved indie rock band The Walkmen opened the show. As The Walkmen were on “extreme” indefinite hiatus, Leithauser is touring by himself in support of his new solo record Black Hours. With his soaring voice, the crooning Leihauser easily won over the early crowd .

Browse photos taken from the show embedded below as well as videos of Ray performing his new album’s title track Supernova and Hamilton performing his single Alexandra.
