Album To Check Out: My Brightest Diamond – None More Than You EP

my_brightest_diamondMy Brightest Diamond is the solo project of New Yorker Shara Worden. Emerging from the shadows of Sufjan Stevens after being a backup vocalist for a number of years, Worden has attracted quite a following thanks to her eclectic performance style of mixing operatic chamber music and cabaret rock and her haunting ethereal voice.

My Brightest Diamond has a new full length (her fourth overall) coming out later this year during the fall. But for now, she is releasing a five-song companion EP to whet the appetite of her fans. The songs in the EP comprises of two mixes of the track Dreaming Awake, a track that Worden originally performed as a duet with sax master Colin Stetson. The first is a minimal electronic version by Son Lux and the other is an orchestral arrangement by Mason Jar Music for a guerrilla recording session. The rest of the EP is reflective of Worden’s life experiences as she combines recordings she has done for films she has scored and orchestral compositions for live performances. This is a treat for My Brightest Diamond fans.

My Brightest Diamond is coming to St Louis. She will be playing at the Old Rockhouse on 11/19 (tickets here)
