The Los Angeles-based singer songwriter Jillian Banks, also known as Banks, has been gathering a lot of steady buzz and hype since she debuted on the scene last year. Gifted with a smooth RnB voice, Banks wraps her vocals around electronically dark trip hop music. After her debut song Before I Ever Met You got played by BBC Radio 1’s Zane Lowe, Banks released two critically well-received EPs, Fall Over and London. Parlaying the exposure into an opening gig for fellow indie dark RnB artist The Weeknd, Banks became one of 2014’s rising artist to watch. The continued hype has led to high anticipation for Banks‘ debut record Goddess.
Goddess is a collection of what Banks represent as an artist. A good portion of the tracklist is curated already from her two earlier released EPs. The new songs serve to reinforce the type of minimalistic delicate trip-hop beats that Banks is known for. Goddess serves a good heaping of dark, tragic music
