Two years ago, London songstress Jessie Ware burst onto the scene with her amazing debut record Devotion. Her brand of smooth soul RnB mixed with an eclectic electronic backdrop garnered critics’ praise and won Ware numerous accolades and awards. Devotion won 2012’s prestigious Mercury Prize award and it made Jessie Ware prominent in everyone’s mind.
With success comes bigger expectations. But it seems Jessie Ware is more than well-equipped to meet them. Her bigger profile means Ware is able to collaborate with tons of bigger name producers and song-writers for her upcoming sophomore record Tough Love. Along with Devotion-producer and writing partner Julio Bashmore, Tough Love‘s liner notes reads like a who’s-who of top names including Ed Sheeran, Dev Hynes, and Miguel. The bigger production means that Tough Love is no longer that raw intimate record that Devotion was. Which might be for the better. This bigger venue of emotional RnB and pop is a great showcase for Ware’s superlative voice.
